The Formosa Dreamers handed the defending champions their fifth loss of the season with a 79-71 victory at home.
Formosa’s three world imports showed the way for the home team, with Tevin Glass scoring a team high 27 points, while Malcolm Miller and Will Artino played support by chalking up 18 points and 16 points respectively.
It was a tightly contested meeting between the ABL’s top two teams as Alab controlled much of the ball game before collapsing in the pay off period.
The home team trailed Alab in the first three quarters (26 to 22 – end of first quarter, 37 to 35 end of second quarter, 62 to 59 end of third quarter) before making a crucial run in the game’s final period to claim the victory.
Artino, Miller and Glass proved to be too much for Alab to handle as they were missing the services of Renaldo Balkman due to a concussion he suffered during the team’s previous game against the Macau Black Bears.
The trio of imports scored all of Formosa’s 20 points in the fourth, outscoring the entire Alab Pilipinas team which only produced nine.
Bobby Ray Parks paced Alab with his own 27 points to go along six rebounds and two assists. Additionally, Ethan Alvano chipped in 14 points and PJ Ramos produced 12.
Alab Pilipinas’ next game will be on the road against the Macau Black Bears on March 15, before they host a rematch against the Formosa Dreamers on March 17, which also happens to be the Dreamers’ next game.
