The Formosa Dreamers took home a hard-fought 92-86 victory against Hong Kong Eastern after another impressive performance from their imports.

O’Darian Bassett showed off his aggressiveness early of the game, giving his team an early 11-4 lead halfway through first quarter, but the visiting Dreamers kept the game close after the returning William Artino provided much-needed offense down low against Eastern’s Samuel Deguara. Both teams continue to displayed high-level performance at both end of the floor, as the home team led by 36 to 34 at the 5 minutes mark of second quarter.

Dreamers swingman Malcom Miller was given a technical foul after swinging and elbow into Lau Tsz Lai before half time, before he made a three from perimeter to further cut the deficit at the beginning of third quarter. Eastern was unable to further extend their slim lead, the Dreamers had a 9-0 run and took the lead midway down the stretch. The visiting team had an eight-point lead, contributed by Miller’s four long bombs to enter the final quarter.

The home team’s zone defense was unable to limit the entire Dreamers squad in attacking effectively. Eastern continued to struggle playing against the Dreamers this season, as they are now 0-3 and loss two of their home games. Both Miller and Artino took charge of third and fourth quarter respectively. The former had 31 points, nine boards and three assists, then the American center added 28 points into this victory.

Bassett contributed 32 points and five dimes, and nailed six of his 13 shots from deep, while the previously struggling Deguara earned a big double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Marcus Elliott added 13 markers, nine rebounds, and four dimes.

Eastern will continue their next game at home against the Westports Malaysia Dragons on January 23 and look to take victory in front of their passionate home crowd. On the other hand, the Dreamers will visit Macau Black Bears on 24th at the Macau Sports Complex.
