The Formosa Dreamers tapped forward Cullen Russo as their first world import signing for the upcoming ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) season.

Russo was last seen with the Aomori Watts in B.League Japan’s Division 2, where he averaged a double-double of 22.3 points and 11 rebounds, while dishing out 4.4 assists and 2.3 steals per outing in 54 games played last season, and is seen as an athletic big that can help on both ends of the floor for the Dreamers.

The 6-foot-9 forward was drafted by Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G League out of college, but was unable to make much impact and only appeared in two games, after previously averaging 8.0 points, 5.5 boards, 2.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game during his senior year with Fresno State Bulldogs.

According to Basketball Lab, the Dreamers are particularly looking forward to see Russo use his height and mobility to helping to create open chances for his teammates. The American forward’s versatility is expected to be extremely valuable to the Dreamers.

Though the Taiwanese club has yet to announce the successor of ex-coach Dean Murray, they will be participating in two pocket tournaments soon in Hualien, Taiwan and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
