In a game with no real implication to the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) standings, Mono Vampire won their season series against the visiting Westports Malaysia Dragons, 98-79.
The game was close until Mono Vampire pulled away with 24-6 run in the second quarter, led by the combined three-point shooting of Thai-Americans Tyler Lamb and Freddie Lish, who combined for 11 threes in the first half to give Mono a 17-point lead at the break.
The Dragons attempted a comeback in the third, coming to as close as nine points off a Winston Shephard layup. Unfortunately for the Dragons, Mono kept up their hot shooting form with the third Thai-American Moses Morgan leading the charge in the second half, scoring 19 points to give Mono a comfortable lead to the final buzzer.
Mono Vampire won their sixth-straight game after the win as their local trio led the charge with Tyler Lamb scoring 25, Morgan with 22, and Freddie Lish adding 16. The- combined for 14 three pointers in the game. The Thai squad opted to rest imports Mike Singletary and Romeo Travis for the game, while both teams gave heavier minutes to their bench line-up.
The Dragon’s top performer for the day was Winston Shepard with 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Fellow import Nnanna Egwu contributed 18 points in the loss.
Mono Vampire will close our their regular season on the road against the Singapore Slingers on the 24th of March, while the Dragons finish their season at home against the Formosa Dreamers on the same day.
