Anthony McClain will be joining the Singapore Slingers as the team’s third and final import following the signings of Xavier Alexander and Marcus Elliott for the upcoming ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) season.
As a legitimate 7-footer, the 30-year-old McClain previously saw ABL action with Mono Vampire Basketball Club during the 2015-16 season, where he averaged 18.2 points and 13.9 rebounds per game.
The American big man also has professional experience playing in Taiwan and Thailand, winning a championship with Xavier Alexander as members of Hi-Tech Basketball Club.
During his stint with the Dacin Tigers in Taiwan’s Super Basketball League (SBL), McClain dominated the paint, sending back 93 shots while averaging 17.8 points and 13.6 rebounds per contest.
The former Cincinnati Bearcat will figure to be a big force down low with his height and size, a slight contrast when compared to John Fields from the Slingers’ previous campaign.
It will be interesting to see how Head Coach Neo Beng Siang chooses to utilize his three imports, as the current trio have proven their ability to put score when the ball is in their hands.
