The ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) steps into a new era as the first regional professional basketball league in Asia is set to open a landmark 10th season later this year.

To commemorate the milestone, the regional league has revealed a plan to honor the Top 10 ABL Players of All-Time. The short-list of 40 nominees have now been announced where championships, individual achievements, and years of service were all considered.

The league will cut down the list to 20 nominees before opening the selection process to fan voting through the ABL website.

Among those likely to make the next cut are acclaimed imports such as Xavier Alexander (Singapore Slingers), Anthony Tucker (Macau Black Bears), Marcus Elliott (Hong Kong Eastern), and Christien Charles (Hitech Bangkok City, Saigon Heat, Singapore Slingers, Mono Vampire).

Standout local players like Bobby Ray Parks Jr. (Alab Pilipinas), Wong Wei Long (Singapore Slingers, CLS Knights Surabaya), Mario Wuysang (Satria Muda BritAma/Indonesia Warriors, CLS Knights Surabaya, Wolf Warriors), and ABL Lifetime Achievement Award winner Leo Avenido (San Miguel Beermen, Saigon Heat, Mono Vampire) are also expected to be selected for the shortlist.
