Consistent with earlier reports, the Fubon Braves have announced their participation in the upcoming season of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).
Chinese Taipei’s defending Super Basketball League (SBL) champion Fubon Braves confirmed longstanding rumors about their participation in the regional league when they made the announcement through their official social media channels.
With the state of the SBL currently in disarray, Fubon was initially slated to be a pioneer in the newly-formed China Basketball League (CBL), joining the equally popular and successful Yulon Luxgen and Pauian Archiland franchises. However, all three teams have since pulled out.
The Braves carry with them an impressive track record since the franchise was acquired by the Fubon group in 2014, making it to their first finals appearance in 2018 before sweeping Taiwan Beer to win the SBL championship this past season.
Fubon is set to become the second active team from the island nation as they join the Formosa Dreamers, whose impressive turnaround from being dead last during their debut season to rising to the top of the standings has shown tremendous promise for Taiwanese fans.
While the Dreamers are based in Changhua County in central Taiwan, the Braves intend to play their home games at the popular Xinzhuang Gymnasium in the northern capital city of Taipei.
