The defending champions have added to their roster for the upcoming ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) season with the signing of Filipino-American Brandon Rosser.
According to a report by Tiebreaker Times, the 6-foot-7 Rosser will be joining head coach Jimmy Alapag and earlier signing Caelan Tiongson in the team’s title defence after playing college basketball at the highest level in the US for the University of California-Riverside Highlanders where he put up decent numbers with 5.7 PPG and 3.6 RPG in two seasons. Before committing to UCR, Brandon played two years at the junior college level with Central Arizona College, averaging 14.6 PPG and 5.7 RPG, while shooting almost 54% from the field.
His last name might be familiar to the Filipino basketball community as he is the younger brother of three-time Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) champion Matt Ganuelas-Rosser of the San Miguel Beermen.
With the new rule being applied, Brandon is expected to play as a local player for Alab Pilipinas, where his size and defensive ability will definitely be useful in bolstering the team’s rebounding and rim protection.
Apart from Rosser and Tiongson, the ABL champions have yet to announce any other players, leaving fans to speculate about the possible return of imports Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman, and key locals last season like the Final MVP Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. or the sharpshooter Josh Urbiztondo.
