The San Miguel Beermen becomes the lone Philippine team to advance to the East Asia Super League Terrific 12 semifinals.
After finishing 2-0 in the group phase against the Shenzhen Aviators of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) and the Ryukyu Golden Kings of B.League Japan, San Miguel comes out on top of Group B and advances to the knockout semifinal round.
The Beermen is set to battle former NBA guard Lance Stephenson and the Group D leading Liaoning Flying Leopards, while the Seoul SK Knights of the Korean Basketball League (KBL) is slated to meet the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in the other bracket. All four top squads from each group came out with unblemished records.
Meanwhile, the two other Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) teams TNT KaTropa (1-1) and Blackwater Elite (0-2) failed to qualify after finishing in the second and third places in their respective groups.
The San Miguel Beermen must pass another acid test when they face the Liaoning Flying Leopards in the knockout semifinal game on Saturday, September 21, at 1900H (+8GMT) at the Tap Seac Multi-sports Pavilion in Macau, China SAR.
