The San Miguel Beermen took care of business against the Shenzhen Aviators, 90-76, at the East Asia Super League Terrific 12 tournament in Macau, China.

Beermen import Dezmine Wells led all scorers with 29 points as he rallied the reigning Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) champions to a rout of the Aviators.

San Miguel was already leading by as much as 20 points early in the second quarter, but Shenzhen rallied to cut the lead back down to just three, before settling at 42-34 going into the half.

A perennial playoff team in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), Shenzhen showed their grit and continued to work their way back against the speedier Beermen.

After a close third quarter, a three-pointer by big man Rong Zifeng cut their deficit further down to just a single point as they opened the final period, but the Beermen went on a 28-15 run to seal the victory in their tournament debut.

Four players finished in double-figures for the Beermen apart from Wells, Terrence Romeo with 17 markers, Chris Ross and Christian Standhardinger with 11 each, and Lester Prosper who added 10.

Meanwhile, Liaoning’s own reinforcement Pierre Jackson spearheaded the comeback and finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Local center Shen Zijie racked up a double-double of 10 points and 12 boards, while guard He Xining added 11.

The Beermen takes a day off tomorrow before facing the defending Terrific 12 Champions Ryukyu Golden Kings at 1900H (+8 GMT) on Thursday, September 19 at the Tap Seac Multi-sports Pavilion in Macau, China SAR.
