The TNT KaTropa outlasts Niigata Albirex BB, 99-90, at East Asia Super League’s Terrific 12 tournament in Macau, China.

KaTropa import KJ McDaniels did the heavy lifting for the most recent Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) runners-up, scoring 47 points to go with 17 rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots in the win.

After trailing for most of the first half, Niigata’s Kei Igarashi helped will his team back with his 12-point output in the second quarter, taking a 50-47 lead going into halftime.

Led by McDaniels, TNT was able to keep within striking distance whenever Niigata threatened to pull away.

Philippine national team guard Roger Pogoy scored on a fastbreak layup to cut TNT’s deficit down to just one to close the third period.

McDaniels’ layup with 8:38 remaining gave KaTropa their first lead of the second half. Pogoy extended their lead back up to five, but Perkins answered back with five-straight points of his own to tie the game with over five minutes remaining in the game.

TNT then proceeded to close out the game on a 14-5 run as the Japanese club seemingly ran out of ammunition towards the end of the game, scoring a victory to end their Macau campaign.

Roger Pogoy also had a great outing for the KaTropa, scoring 27 points, five boards, and five steals.

Meanwhile, import Nick Perkins finished with 34 points and 12 rebounds, while Kei Igarashi added 17 markers.

Both teams only had one import each, as KaTropa played without McKenzie Moore while Niigata was without Lamont Hamilton.

TNT KaTropa (1-1) and Niigata Albirex BB (0-2) have both been eliminated from the knockout round. The Liaoning Flying Leopards advances after finishing the group stage with a 2-0 card.
