The Macau Black Bears exacted revenge against San Miguel Alab Pilipinas at home, blowing out the defending ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) champions, 114-84.
Mike McKinney picked up where he left off a week ago where he almost single-handedly pulled off an upset win against Alab Pilipinas after scoring a career-high 50 points, following up with a 43-point performance to go with eight assists and five rebounds.
Fellow Black Bears import Dewarick Spencer, who came in as a replacement for team captain and reigning World Import MVP Anthony Tucker (left foot injury), also showed out with 42 points, nine boards, and five dimes.
After holding a slim six-point lead at the half, Macau went on to completely dismantle the depleted Alab Pilipinas squad in the second half, as the Filipino club struggled without their best player Renaldo Balkman (broken nose) and vital rotation guys Lawrence Domingo and Brandon Rosser (sprained MCL).
PJ Ramos led Alab Pilipinas with 24 points and nine rebounds, while local guard Josh Urbiztondo came on fire in the first half to finish with 16 markers. Reigning local MVP Bobby Ray Parks Jr. added 12 points, eight rebounds and three dimes.
Black Bears’ big man Ryan Watkins struggled offensively as he scored only four points but grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked three shots. Jenning Leung also came to play, adding 12 points and three rebounds in the win.
San Miguel Alab Pilipinas will look to hold on to the first seed when they face the surging Formosa Dreamers on March 17, while the Macau Black Bears play their local rivals Wolf Warriors on the same day.
