The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Draw concluded in front of 8,000 spectators at the Shenzhen Bay Arena.
The draw grouped the 32 participating teams into eight groups of four teams each for FIBA’s flagship quadrennial meet that will be held between August 31 and September 15.
The Philippines will represent the Southeast Asian subregion in the world stage for the second time after debuting in 2014, where they salvaged a win against Senegal in their final assignment after a series of close contests against much higher ranked teams.
Claiming their ticket to China on the last day of the qualifiers, the world number 31 ranked Filipinos were drawn into Group D, joining 2014 FIBA World Cup silver medallists and world number four Serbia, Italy (13th), and Angola (39th).
Team Pilipinas will look to come out with another strong showing when they open their 2019 World Cup campaign against Italy on August 31 at the Foshan International Sports and Cultural Center in Guangdong, China.
