The woes for Philippine squads continue as the Women’s National Team fall to 0-3 at the 2019 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup, in Bangalore, India.
Formerly known as Perlas Pilipinas, the since renamed Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Team is trying to retain their status as a Division A team, but are now in danger of relegation after failing to advance to the playoff round.
The Philippines finished winless in Group B against powerhouse teams Australia, China, and New Zealand. The Filipinos lost by an average margin of 43.7 points per game, with their closest result being a 75-57 defeat against the Tall Ferns of New Zealand.
Both also winless up to this point, the loser of tonight’s final group phase match between hosts India and Chinese Taipei will play the Philippines for seventh place in the classification round.
To remain in the top division, the Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Team needs to win the seventh place classification match of the 2019 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup on September 27 at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bangalore, India.
