NAYC records a dominant 65-49 victory over Seven Star, sending Seven Star to their sixth straight defeat to keep them at zero in the wins column. NAYC improves their record to 4-2.

For the second game in a row, NAYC would lead the game from start to finish but this time gave no room to their opponents for any hopes of a comeback. NAYC would lead by double digits for the final three quarters. Their biggest lead would be by 23 after a putback basket by Ho Yeow Loong midway through the third quarter. The closest Seven Star would reach was by 14 through a late jumper by Tan Shu Yi. NAYC’s disciplined defense would force Seven Star to take many difficult shots, ending the night with a dismal 27% shooting percentage.

Seven Star would only have three players scoring more than five points and now face Farmco Knights and Red Baron in a weekend that will determine their hopes to qualify for the playoffs.

The player of the game for NAYC would be Vincent Choong Yuen Yew, who continues his fine scoring form with a 14 points and 6 rebounds performance

KL Dragons 72 Red Baron 62

KL Dragons defeated Red Baron 72-62 in an exciting game that saw the Dragons earn the comeback victory despite being down by double digits in the second half. This would push the Dragon’s win streak to an impressive five.

Red Baron would begin the game full of confidence after their victory over the league leaders NS Matrix. The first quarter would be all Red Baron as they asserted their height advantage to lead by nine with key plays by Goh Yan Qing and Keng Eng Hong.

The Dragons leading scorer, Chiang Wei Er would have a difficult start, going 0/8 shooting before making a pair a free throws midway through the second quarter. Chiang’s takeover would then commence  with an assist to Joshua Gan Teck Hwa for a three pointer before he would score six straight points to spark the Dragon’s fightback. The Dragons would be able to tie the game off a layup by Sebastian Ang but it would Red Baron taking the two point lead into the half after a jumper by Foo Ting Jun.

Red Baron started the third quarter guns blazing with three straight three pointers by Keng Eng Hong, giving them their biggest lead of the game at 11. The Dragons would remain calm and led by the leadership of captain, John Ng Yeo Seng, the Dragons would chip away at the lead with well taken shots and a tight zone defense forcing key turnovers by Red Baron. The Dragons would finally take the lead off a three pointer by Ng with two minutes remaining in the third.

The Dragons maintained their game plan and discipline in the fourth and would stretch their lead to as high as 11 after a layup by Chin Cheng Wah. Red Baron would call a timeout and then manage to cut the lead to as close as five through another Keng three pointer. The Dragons would respond with an And1 basket made by Chiang and the dagger mid range jumper by Chin to give them a ten point lead which they would not relinquish.

Dragon’s record now stands at 5-1 with Red Baron dropping to 2-3

The player of the game would be Chin, who proved to be a valuable mid season signing for the Dragons. He would end the night with 19 points (8/13 shooting), 8 rebounds and 3 steals to earn his second player of the game award for the season.

Sebastian Ang would have his best game of the season with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 Assists and 2 steals
