The Philippines blew out Indonesia, 97-70, behind a strong third quarter to advance to the Final of the basketball tournament at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

As in their match against Vietnam, the Filipinos bucked a slow start to completely blow the game wide open in the third quarter, capped by Marcio Lassiter’s corner three that gave them a 33-point lead at the end of the third period.

Filipino-German Christian Standhardinger helped lead the Philippines to an early first quarter lead, before sharpshooting guard Juan Laurent Kokodiputra came off the bench to nail three consecutive three-pointers that cut the deficit down to four for Indonesia at the end of the opening quarter.

The Philippines only took their first double-digit lead of the game at 37-26 after Vic Manuel nailed a floater at the 1:35 mark of the second quarter. He made another one to extend their lead to 13, before Abraham Damar Grahita answered back with an acrobatic layup to close the first half for Indonesia as they trailed by just 11.

Christian Standhardinger finished the game with 14 points for the Philippines, while Matt Wright had 13. Forward Vic Manuel, who helped sparked a third quarter spurt, added 11 points as all Filipino players managed to score in the game.

Juan Laurent Kokodiputra led the Indonesian side with 20 points, including six three-pointers, off 46 percent shooting for the field. Abraham Damar Grahita added 14 points, while Andakara Prastawa and Mei Joni each added 11 in the losing effort.

With the win, Gilas Pilipinas remain undefeated as they set up a date with the 2017 SEA Games bronze medallists Thailand, who narrowly defeated Vietnam earlier in the day. The hosts will look to secure their 18th overall SEA Games basketball title on December 10 (20:15 GMT+8), still at the Mall of Asia Arena.
