The Philippines sent Myanmar home with a 136-67 blowout to continue their dominance at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Manila, Philippines.  

Myanmar was able to keep the game close, trailing 32-24 after ten minutes, thanks to swingman Aung Myint, who carried his team with 14 in the opening quarter.

However, the Philippines were quick to established their dominance in the second quarter, after a few successful fastbreak points led by sharpshooter Marcio Lassiter. Teammate Matthew Wright extended the lead to as much as 31 points after two quick shots from deep as they take a 77-36 lead into halftime.

The Burmese squad had no answer for the host team’s big men and quick guards, and the lead accumulated to as much as 50 points with four minutes remaining in the final quarter.

The Southeast Asian powerhouse eventually closed the game with the landslide victory after limiting Myanmar to just 31 points in the second half.

Filipino-Canadian guard Matthew Wright led the home team with 29 points, including eight long bombs from beyond the arc. Big man Vic Manuel also contributed 24 points, 11 rebounds and two steals in the winning effort.

Aung Myint and Chin Ta both recorded double-digit in scoring for Myanmar, where Myint finished eith 28 points with an efficient 46% shooting from the field.

The Philippines enter the semifinals undefeated with a 3-0 card and will play against a young Indonesian team on December 9, still at the Mall of Asia Arena.
