Malaysian club team NS Matrix has announced their entry into the upcoming season of the Thailand Basketball Super League (TBSL), as reported by a local website, making them the first Malaysian squad to participate in the tournament.

NS Matrix, by virtue of being champions of Malaysia’s most prestigious domestic championship, the Agung Cup, have been tasked with managing the Malaysian National Team and will look to use TBSL as part of preparations for SEA Games 2019.

According to Team Manager, Richard Lim, the team is set to bring it’s best line up possible to participate and will only engage the services of two import players to ensure the local players have ample playing time to maximize the experience of joining TBSL.

Chris Eversley won’t be having Wong Yi Hou and Kuek Tian Yuan by his side for ABL Season 9

The news will be of significant impact to fellow Malaysian club, the KL Dragons, as six of their players are contracted to play for NS Matrix for domestic competition and will likely be a part of NS Matrix’s inaugural TBSL campaign. Meaning Kuek Tian Yuan, Wong Yi Hou, Ting Chun Hong, Ivan Yeo, Teo Kok Hou and Chin Zhi Shin are all expected to miss seeing action in the upcoming season of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).

While the Dragons’ ABL season opens in November 2018, NS Matrix won’t be opening their Thailand Super Basketball League campaign until February 2019.
