Converse Basketball has returned, and their latest performance model has finally arrived in the Philippines.

The original basketball brand officially unveiled the All Star Pro BB for the first time in the domestic market, marking the brand’s return to the basketball scene after a long hiatus.

It was only fitting given how the brand helped pave the way for basketball nearly a hundred years ago, introducing the Non-Skid sneaker that was specifically engineered for a sport that was just gaining popularity in North America.

1922 was a monumental year for the brand after a basketball player-cum-shoe salesman hosted the first-ever basketball clinic in North Carolina in the United States. His name was Chuck Taylor.

Fast forward a century after, Converse utilized the iconic ‘Chuck Taylor’ All-Star silhouette in their latest basketball sneaker. Complete with the patch on the medial and the iconic Star Chevron logo on the lateral side, the brand took to a minimalist approach that comes up to become a modern performance beast.

Using Nike’s pipeline of innovation and technology during the development process, creative director and legendary basketball shoe designer Eric Avar opted to implement the React technology drop-in midsole configuration, eliminating the number of layers traditionally present in a footwear construction.

Meanwhile, the upper used a Quad Axial Woven material that allowed for a lockdown fit with lightweight, minimal construction. Rounding out the performance aspect of the sneaker is a multi-directional traction that balances durability and traction specific for high-wear areas.

After a launch conference in the evening that featured an unveiling of the All Star Pro BB ‘Flames’, the event culminated with an all-star game that featured professional and collegiate athletes, as well as celebrities and select members of the media.

Phoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre Jr. and Chinese National Team star Abudushalamu Abudurexiti are the official basketball ambassadors, representing the brand in the NBA and in the World Cup stage.

Fans who want to continue celebrating the rich Converse basketball DNA can score the All Star Pro BB for P8990. The Flames colorway will be sold exclusively through a ballot system on November 17 at Titan Conrad. Follow Converse Philippines for more information on future drops.
