Reigning ONE Featherweight Champion Martin ‘The Situ-Asian’ Nguyen successfully defends his title against Koyomi ‘Moushigo’ Matsushima in the main event of ONE: Dawn of Heroes.

Matsushima came out aggressive in the opening round, attempting to take down Nguyen several times, but the Vietnamese Australian champion showed great submission defense and remained composed throughout.

Nguyen stayed patient and slowly wore down the Japanese challenger with his striking, pulling off the TKO win at the 4:40 mark of the second round in front of thousands of the Filipino fans.

Asserting his dominance of the Featherweight division, this victory marks the third successful title defense for Nguyen, and his second-straight victory via stoppage after putting away Narantungalag ‘Tungaa’ Jadambaa with a flying knee last April at ONE: Roots of Honor, also in Manila.

The 30-year-old Nguyen improves to a professional record of 13-3, while the up-and-coming Matsushima falls to 11-4 after his first defeat in ONE Championship.
