Right before we get the chance to celebrate the new year with friends and family, the Saigon Heat have made a surprise roster change just a few days after Christmas.

The team has decided to part ways with their high-flying big man Travele Jones.

The 6-foot-8, 203-pound American center had himself some pretty decent performances during his short term in Vietnam. Jones averaged 19.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, while also showing great athleticism around the rim and an ability to guard multiple positions with his long reach during the world import’s three games with the Heat.

It is believed that head coach Kyle Julius is looking for a big man who can run tirelessly and possesses the ability to spread the floor with a shooter’s touch, ultimately allowing for the fast and furious Akeem Scott to operate the Heat offense with more space.

With the current roster changes happening in this particular ABL group, the three designated teams (Saigon Heat, Mono Vampire, and Westports Malaysia Dragons) are looking like they’ll be attempting to play similar styles according to their personnel decisions, adopting a Golden State Warriors-esque small-ball type of basketball. The same intensity and pride is too be expected, only with a faster game pace among the teams in the group.

With the skill-set that Travele Jones has displayed with the Heat, don’t be too surprised if he finds himself a new home within the ranks of the ABL before the season hits its climax a few months down the road.
