Filipino guard Almond Vosotros is set to join Thai basketball club Mono Thewphaingarm as an ASEAN import for their upcoming season of the Thailand Basketball Super League (TBSL).
The former 13th overall pick in the 2015 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Draft became a free agent after his two-year contract with Blackwater Elite expired. He will join local mainstays Darunpong Apiromvilaichai, Jittphon Towaroj, Tawatchai Suktub, Napporn Sangtong, Thailand national team member Nattakarn Muangboon, and import big man Anthony McClain.
A multi-time Philippines national team participant, Vosotros was a member of the 2017 Gilas Pilipinas squad that traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia over summer, where he won his second Southeast Asian Games gold medal. He last played internationally as a member of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup in Chenzhou, China last September 2017.
Joining Vosotros in the other ASEAN import slot will be Filipino-Canadian Zach Nicholls. Fresh out of college from Arellano University in the Philippine National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Thailand stint will be the sweet-shooting swingman’s first professional campaign.
The TBSL will commence on the 27th of January and will run until the 31st of March.
