The CLS Knights Indonesia will be without both Mario Wuysang and Ebrahim ‘Biboy’ Enguio in their match against the Singapore Slingers, as both players have not travelled with the team to Singapore for their ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) regular season match.

“I’m done for the season,” Wuysang said after being reached out for a clarification, “The management and coaches have decided to not play me the rest of the season to let the locals have an opportunity to improve.”

The statement is consistent to an earlier comment made by head coach Koko Nugroho that they will consciously play their reserve players more from hereon, after the team had been officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Indonesian-Filipino guard Biboy Enguio has also stayed behind in Indonesia, but expects to play in their three remaining games. The Knights will host the Malaysia Dragons at home next week, before visiting the Philippines to play the San Miguel Alab Pilipinas in back-to-back games to close out their season.

“It was coach’s decision to play our locals more, since we are now out of the running for the playoffs,” said Enguio, “The coaching staff feel the need to let them play more so they can get more experience in the ABL and gain confidence going forward. Whatever is best for the team.”

Mario Wuysang is just thankful to finish the season with a personal milestone, despite the disappointment of not being able to achieve what they have set out to do.

“I’m just here to do my job, and sometimes there are things that are out of my control. I felt like I have done my job this season, unfortunately, we were not able to win but I am blessed to have ended the season after making history by reaching the 1000-point club. I’ll just keep doing what I do and keep it moving.”

The Knights are set to face the Slingers at the OCBC Arena in Singapore at 4 PM.
