Contrary to reports coming from within Vietnam that the Ho Chi Minh City Wings’ Corey Cilia would be sitting out the 2018 Vietnam Basketball Association (VBA) season due to injury, Cilia has confirmed with ASEAN Sports that he is indeed healthy and set to play in the upcoming season.

The Vietnamese-Amerian explained that he did suffer an injury during his senior year with the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, but has since undergone corrective surgery and has been rehabbing. He reports that he will be “100 percent by the time the season begins.” However, Corey will miss the preseason and the first game of the regular season as he finishes up his university studies.

This news should ease any worries that Wings fans may have about the upcoming season regarding their 2018 second overall draft selection. Cilia will be stepping into a role left vacant by the departure of veteran guards Triệu Hán Minh and Ngô Tuấn Trung.

The Wings will host the Cantho Catfish for their only preseason home game on June 3rd.
