Three-time NBA Champion Stephen Curry returned to Manila for the first of three stops in his 2018 SC Asia Tour, revisiting fans in Asia while promoting his new signature kicks from Under Armour, the recently launched Curry 5.
Curry, who first visited Manila after winning his first NBA title in the summer of 2015, has since won his third championship within four years. Taking no time off, the two-time league MVP began the first day his tour with a two-hour workout, doing shooting drills and agility exercises prior to a scheduled media conference attended by journalists from all over Southeast Asia.
After the press conference, Curry traveled to the Mall of Asia Arena for the Under Armour Southeast Asia 3×3 Finals. In one of the side events, he was joined by his father Dell, a former NBA sharpshooter himself, on a shooting competitions against some local participants. Needless to say, the Currys won handily.
Curry also toured a Jeepney, World War II-era humvee trucks that that has been repurposed into transporting commuters throughout the streets of Manila. The first day wrapped up with a visit at the Titan 22 flagship store and at the Under Armour Brand House.
Throughout the visit, the China and Philippine-exclusive yellow ‘Tour’ colorway can be spotted on the feet of the global hoops superstar and also among many of the Filipino fans who came out to see him.
A new ‘tan’ colorway of the Curry 5 also released globally in limited quantities at UA Brand Houses and on UA.com. Aside from the Asian-exclusive yellow colorway, fans from Tokyo, Japan will also have the privilege of copping a new black/multicolor pair ahead of its November global launch.
From Manila, Stephen Curry will visit the Wugang Stadium in Wuhan, China on September 9, before completing the Under Armour Asia Tour at the Roppongi Hills Arena in Tokyo, Japan on September 12.
