On the final day of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Eastern Region Pre Qualifiers, Guam cements their position as a third Oceania force in Asia, by finishing off Malaysia 101-78.

Guam’s Earnest Ross Jr went off for 33 points in the victory over Malaysia to finish as lead scorer for the pre qualifiers, averaging 22 points a game. Malaysia’s efforts were led by Chang Zi Fueng who scored 20 points, including five three pointers.

Indonesia continued their mastery over Thailand, picking up yet another victory, defeating the hosts 71-65 in a come from behind victory. Indonesia’s veteran scorer, Arki Wisnu scored 17 points including several key baskets in the fourth quarter to end the pre qualifiers on a positive note for Indonesia.

Thai American Moses Morgan had his best game of the tournament, scoring 35 points, including six three pointers.

In the third game of the day, Singapore were made to work to defeat Macau 96-93 behind Larry Liew’s 15 points and nine rebounds. Macau’s Lo Hip Meng who had 20 points for the game, could not make the potential game tying three pointer in the end, leaving Macau without a win at the pre qualifiers.

Guam, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia join four other Division B teams, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Bahrain and Sri Lanka  for the Main Qualifying round set to tip off in November 2019.
