Zebaztian Kadestam triumphantly retained the ONE Welterweight crown after he toppled Georgiy Kichigin last night at ONE Reign of Valor, at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.

He certified his status as the world champion after he engineered a masterful performance that was highlighted by a beautiful elbow strike right into the temple of the challenger.

That hit proved to be decisive and served as a rude welcome for Kichigin in his ONE debut, as the referee called a stoppage in between round two and three to formalize Kadestam’s victory.

This was the first successful title defense for the Swede champion, and the Kazakh challenger’s first lost since 2014.

Meanwhile, Filipino slugger Rene Catalan sent shockwaves in the Strawweight division after dominating former champion Yoshitaka Naito to claim a TKO win.

Catalan prepared a solid wrestling defense against the Japanese and capitalized on a failed submission attempt to rain down powerful strikes that punished and bloodied Naito, thus translating into a win in the very first round.

Win the win, Catalan might have just earned a title shot with the latest win, adding Yoshitaka in his current 6-fight win streak.

However, teammate Jomary Torres tasted her third straight setback at the hands of China’s Lin Heqin via first round Triangle Choke submission.
