The Ho Chi Minh City Wings have announced the signing of Wayne Martin as the team’s world import for the fourth season of the Vietnam Basketball Association (VBA).

As a senior at Tennessee State University in 2016-2017, Martin nearly averaged a double-double, scoring 14.2 points and pulling in 9.4 rebounds per game.

Following his collegiate career, the American forward played stints professionally in Kosovo with Prishtina BC, in Cyprus with Michelin Etha Engomis, and most recently, in the British Basketball League with the Leicester Riders.

Playing alongside the 6-foot-7 Martin will be Michael Soy, the first overall pick in the 2019 VBA Draft, and Heritage Import Vincent Nguyen, who was acquired in a trade with the Hanoi Buffaloes for Henry Nguyen.

With a wholly revamped cast of imports on the team’s roster, the City Wings are hoping to bounce back from a dismal 2018 VBA season where it went 1-14. The fourth season of Vietnam’s domestic basketball league is set to begin in June.
