Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes settled the tie between him and Filipino Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio after a unanimous win on Friday night in their third meeting inside the jam-packed Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.
In front of his opponent’s home crowd, Moraes mustered a good overall performance, from matching Eustaquio’s striking game to attempting multiple submissions. Although the Brazilian fighter failed to submit the Team Lakay standout, he just did enough to get back his crown and finally close the historic trilogy in ONE.
This is the second world title stripped from Baguio’s premier MMA gym when Joshua Pacio also failed to defend his Strawweight crown last week in Jakarta.
Two of Eustaquio’s compatriots and Team Lakay teammates also joined him in the card but received contrasting results. First, it was Danny Kingad who fended off Japanese foe Tatsumitsu Wada in their Featherweight mixed martial arts clash, landing more significant shots and winning through Unanimous Decision.
Meanwhile, Honorio Banario suffered a loss at the hands of American wrestling specialist Lowen Tynanes to kick off the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Quarter-finals via a Round 1 TKO.
