Gina “Conviction” Iniong is looking to add another win in favor of Team Lakay as she prepares to battle Malaysia’s Jihin “Shadowcat” Radzuan in an atomweight showdown at ONE: Clash of Legends in Bangkok on February 16.

Carrying a professional record of seven wins and four defeats (3-2 in ONE), Iniong has already disclosed her fight plan against the youngster out of Johor Bahru.

“My game plan in our bout is, if we end up striking, we will strike with each other,” Iniong revealed. “If we end up in the ground, I will also play on the ground.”

But she knows that Radzuan is also a tough fighter, and that she must not be complacent towards her Malaysian opponent.

“What I know of Jihan Radzuan is she is well-rounded,” the Team Lakay fighter added. “Her ground game is good. I watched her last fight and I was really amazed with her performance.”

She also mentioned how Jihin has worked to improve on her mixed martial arts game.

“Some athletes are focused on striking only, while others only focus on whatever other aspects they are good at, like their ground game, but you can see that Jihin’s striking and ground game are both very good.”

However, the “Conviction” identified the vulnerable side of the 20-year-old, who is undefeated in four professional mixed martial arts bouts, vowing to exploit it come fight night.

“Jihin’s weakness is her striking. I trained very hard for this fight. I really prepared, and I am determined to win,” Iniong expressed.

“I predict that our match will end in the second round through ground and pound.”

A victory on the evening of February 16 should boost her stock in the division and will surely pull her closer to her primary prize of obtaining the title.

“My ultimate goal is to also become a champion and become the pride of Baguio City. We don’t have a female champion yet, particularly in mixed martial arts.”
