The “Zamboanginian Fighter” is ready to get back in the winning column as she faces newcomer Lin Heqin in a women’s flyweight meeting at ONE: Reign of Valor.
After suffering two consecutive defeats, one at the hands of Priscilla Gaol and the other to Mei Yamaguchi, Jomary Torres’ coach confirmed that she is 100 percent fit to lock horns against her 25-year-old Chinese opponent.
“Our training went well this time around, unlike her last couple of fights when she had problems with her ankle,” pointed out Rene Catalan, who is Torres’ coach at Catalan Fighting System Philippines.
A victory should improve her stock in the division and can potentially insert her back into title contender conversations, but Catalan is not looking past his fighter’s immediate opponent, laying down her key to a successful campaign.
“She has to be explosive and impressive in her upcoming fight. We cannot afford to have a third consecutive defeat,” stressed Catalan.
“I told her to take those losses as a learning experience, and that we must properly execute our game plan moving forward.”
However, the Catalan Fighting System co-founder did express that the outcome which he and Torres want to achieve on fight night should materialize during the bout.
“We might go for a stoppage in this fight. We are prepared to do everything. We already have a game plan that only needs to be followed.”
