Ramon ‘The Bicolano’ Gonzales, a Filipino Strawweight mixed martial arts fighter failed the hydration test that was conducted at the weigh-ins, and was eventually pulled out of ONE: Dreams of Gold in Bangkok, Thailand.

ONE Championship, Asia’s biggest sporting media property is the first full contact sports organization in the world to implement the hydration test for their athletes, meaning that a fighter would not be able to cut a his weight through dehydration just to meet the required weight that they will be competing in.

Due to this, athletes will not be able to compete on fight night and will be forced to pulled out of the card immediately as this action presents a lot of health trouble and side effects.

The passing rate for the Hydration value is 1.0250 and any value greater than or equal to 1.0251 is considered to be a failing mark. ONE conducts this test via urine to determine if a fighter is good to go or not.

Unfortunately, Gonzales was caught up by this ruling as he garnered a 1.0252 mark in the final weight and hydration test on the fight day. Because of the incident, his bout with Chinese slugger Hexigetu was cancelled and will wait for another time.

‘The Bicolano’ was aiming for his fourth straight win and a potential title shot against Hexigetu prior to the disqualification.

ONE: Dreams of Gold is currently ongoing at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
